What solution to protect sticky waste containers?

Our client, a major player in waste collection, contacted us to address one of their challenges. They use a process to treat fermentable waste through disintegration. This process avoids waste incineration and, more importantly, allows for its valorization.

During transport, the sticky waste adheres to the container. Cleaning the container completely afterward is very difficult and time-consuming. Another part of the waste becomes liquid and leaks from the container.

We proposed to our client to install a protective container inliner: PROTECSKIP® BIO, a biodegradable and compostable version of our original product. The plastic complies with the European standard NF EN 13432, which outlines the characteristics of packaging suitable for composting and biodegradation.

The solution proposed by OTEXIO

We chose this solution for several reasons:

  • The PROTECSKIP® BIO container inliner is compostable and biodegradable, making it well-suited for organic waste treatment.
  • One of the major advantages of the container inliner is that it is disposed of with the waste. container emptying is thus ultra-fast and clean, comparable to traditional emptying times without the additional cost of container washing.

The Result of the inliner's Disappearance

Once the inliner is discarded with the waste, our client followed their composting process, sieving it through two methods. They observed the following results:

  • Result during natural composting (outdoor):
    • 1st screening at 3-4 weeks: the inliner has nearly disappeared, leaving only a few tiny fragments.
    • 2nd screening at 8 weeks: the inliner has completely disappeared, leaving only composted waste ready for resale.
  • Result during accelerated composting (indoor, with humidity):
    • In 5 weeks, the inliner has completely degraded, leaving nothing behind.
