COVED masters the entire chain of waste collection, sorting, recovery, and treatment, as well as hydrocleaning and mechanized sweeping activities.

The world of waste is inherently associated with bad odors. These odors are present in landfills (Non-Hazardous Waste Storage Facility), sorting centers, composting and maturation areas, wastewater treatment plants, and during waste transportation.

In response to several requests, OTEXIO has developed a unique anti-odor tarp.

Our clients often use this product on biogas wells: the gas passes through the filter, and foul odors are trapped. We use regenerating activated carbon filters. The activated carbon captures odor molecules and stores them. The filter is composed of titanium dioxide that absorbs the ultraviolet rays generated by the sun. These UV rays, when in contact with titanium, create a chemical reaction with the carbon, allowing it to regenerate. The carbon is reusable as long as it is not physically damaged.

This process is unique and provides a product with permanent effectiveness in filtering out bad odors. Our anti-odor tarp is made of PVC and Polyethylene.

Encountered Challenge:

At the beginning of the year, our client contacted us regarding an odor issue on a Non-Hazardous Waste Storage Facility cell.

The prefectoral exploitation authorization decree requires covering the cell every Friday evening during fall to spring and every evening during summer. On this site, biogas not captured by the drains within about twenty meters emitted strong odors on the site and its surroundings.

To solve this issue and ensure easy installation, we equipped our client with 8 anti-odor tarps mounted on 2 rollers. The tarps are unrolled in the evening and rolled up in the morning. It takes 30 minutes to cover 1200 m².

The Operations Manager reported the benefits experienced after installing the anti-odor tarps:

  • No more complaints about bad odors
Significant reduction in odors from a non-captured biogas source over 20m: Without the tarp, biogas contains 10% CH4. With the tarp, the biogas passing through the activated carbon contains less than 1% CH4.
