Our client is a public joint authority responsible for managing household and similar waste for several municipalities: operation of waste collection centers, flow organization, sorting/recovery, and downstream waste management.
This is a specific case, as the organization manages a large part of its transport operations in-house, which remains relatively rare and allows it to maintain strong operational control over its fleet of containers and rotation logistics.
To preserve the value of cardboard collected at the waste collection center, the authority needed to cover its dedicated 30 m³ cardboard container while ensuring operator safety.
Indeed, once cardboard becomes damp or wet, it loses value and may be downgraded, leading to additional costs (up to landfill disposal) instead of material recovery.
The “standard tarpaulin” solutions previously used had several limitations:
OTEXIO recommended and installed a sliding RCOVER® system in a double-opening configuration, specifically adapted to waste collection center conditions (operation from ground level or from a dock) and to waste streams requiring protection, such as cardboard.
This solution meets three key objectives:
An important operational point was highlighted: the packmat used for compaction had to remain compatible with the system while being used carefully to preserve the tarpaulin and system components over time (a practice already adopted by the on-site team).

After a real-life testing phase, the result is conclusive:
The container dedicated to cardboard is now 100% watertight and remains protected from water, ensuring high-quality material for recovery without degradation. In addition, system handling is safer from the ground and significantly easier than with a standard tarpaulin. As a result, the operator is confident in daily use, fully compatible with compaction and the packmat system.
Satisfied with the solution, the customer now plans to deploy 6 additional systems on new containers, maintaining the validated double-opening configuration.
