  • Client Introduction
The NEHLSEN Group, based in Bremen, has been a major player in recycling, waste disposal, industrial cleaning, and logistics in Germany for nearly 100 years. With 2,800 employees spread across 70 sites in Europe and Africa, they manage waste from collection using their own open-top container trucks to sorting in their recycling centers.

Their quality-based approach ensures operator safety and enables them to offer innovative recycling solutions.

  • Encountered Problem
To transport its waste (mainly scrap metal and wood), NEHLSEN typically covers the containers using systems like Rollplane. These fixed systems attached to the containers frequently break, leading to productivity and efficiency losses for the operator. Issues include system jamming, lack of space for opening/closing, poor filling optimization, etc. Operators have to climb onto the containers to unroll the covers (using ladders), which goes against one of the group's major priorities: personnel safety.

Other alternative systems were considered (automatic, fixed to the truck, fixed to the container, etc.), but none fully satisfied the requirements. Whether due to technical or financial reasons, the solutions couldn't address the existing issues: equipment cost, short-term profitability, or lack of space for covering on-site.

  • Solution Provided by OTEXIO
NEHLSEN considered a non-fixed system for the containers and turned to OTEXIO for expertise. After numerous discussions to understand the issues and the group's challenges, OTEXIO provided a solution that combined profitability, productivity, and safety.

Following several demonstrations, the LiteCover® emerged as the ideal non-fixed alternative: it requires minimal space for covering, offers an ultra-reliable and robust system, enhances operator safety, reduces physical strain, and demonstrates investment profitability within months.

OTEXIO guided the client throughout the decision-making process, providing advice and expertise to understand and quantify the long-term benefits of this solution.

After a testing phase in 3 locations, the NEHLSEN Group decided to implement the solution across a significant portion of its German truck fleet, ordering 80 systems (2 LiteCover® nets + 1 handling pole + 1 repair kit) by the end of 2022.

Similar to any LiteCover® solution purchase, driver teams receive training in installing the system, provided by our OTEX'PERTS at the client's site. Consequently, during the first quarter of 2023, more than 20 training sessions will be conducted throughout Germany to ensure successful implementation and close client support.

  • What's Next?
The systems are currently being delivered, and NEHLSEN's drivers are already enthusiastic about implementing the solution. Safety, reliability, and durability will now be part of their daily routine. OTEXIO managed to reassure the group about the system's relevance and reliability, guiding them through the implementation process.

NEHLSEN and OTEXIO effectively collaborated and will showcase the commitment to safety during covering and quality workmanship beyond the borders of France.
