Protecting weather-sensitive materials with two made-to-measure RCOVER®BOX units

A local authority in western France, responsible for numerous road and roundabout development projects, was looking for a solution to protect two bulk materials: cold mix asphalt and decorative sand.

When exposed to rain, these materials quickly became difficult to use, especially the decorative sand, which tended to compact and form large blocks. This situation could slow down field operations and disrupt the progress of worksites.

Issue encountered

The client had two bulk storage bays, located side by side, approximately 5 m wide, 6 m deep and 2.40 m high each. The challenge was not only to effectively protect the materials against the weather. It was also necessary to design a system allowing each storage bay to be opened independently of the other, in a simple, quick and practical way for everyday use, in order to maintain smooth site operations.

Solution proposed by OTEXIO

To meet this specific configuration, OTEXIO proposed the supply and installation of two RCOVER®BOX systems, installed on the two adjacent storage bays.

This made-to-measure solution makes it possible to cover each storage area individually while ensuring easy and independent handling. The installed system consists of a 650 g/m² PVC tarp, providing effective protection against the weather, as well as a rain-resistant micro-mesh net base, designed to let air pass through and ensure good ventilation of the storage bays.

This configuration therefore protects the stored materials while maintaining suitable storage conditions, particularly for materials that are sensitive to moisture and enclosure.

Benefits obtained

Thanks to the installation of these two RCOVER®BOX units, the local authority can now keep cold mix asphalt and decorative sand usable, even during bad weather.

The materials remain protected, better ventilated and available for ongoing operations, helping to avoid worksite blockages and ensure better continuity in development works.

The independent opening of each storage bay also provides real ease of use for the teams, who can easily access the desired material without affecting operations in the other storage area.
