ENERGYTEX®

Protection nets for underground pipelines, buried structures and warning devices

France has more than 2.5 million kilometres of buried structures. Despite the DT-DICT reform, nearly 80,000 incidents are still recorded every year on these networks, notably due to the absence of suitable compensatory safety measures to limit the risks associated with work carried out close to them.

Secure buried networks with high-resistance warning mesh (HR) and suitable warning devices!

WHY CHOOSE AN ENERGYTEX® PROTECTION NET?

For more than 10 years, OTEXIO has been developing a range of warning meshes with high mechanical (HRM) and elastic (HRE) resistance, with integrated marking strip, compliant with NF EN 12613. These systems effectively protect buried networks - gas, oil, water, electricity, fibre optics, hydrogen, etc. - during mechanical interventions of up to 36 tonnes, on or near existing structures.

Choosing ENERGYTEX® warning mesh means choosing a high-performance, cost-effective safety solution:

- A solution recognised as a compensatory measure compliant with GESIP recommendations. This recommendation makes it possible to achieve TT3 protection with an EMC from 0.05 to 0.025, i.e. a level of effectiveness comparable to concrete slabs. Product certified by APAVE.

- Improved safety thanks to a system that is simple and quick to install. Installation can be carried out by a single person at a rate of 100 metres in 5 minutes, with no need for specific machinery.

- Reduced costs. The supply price of ENERGYTEX® warning mesh, available in widths on request, together with its installation cost, remains far lower than concrete slabs.

- Protection for operators and the environment. If a buried structure is punctured, the accident risk for the operator can be significant, especially on gas or electricity networks.

Our system has already been proven on numerous projects and validated by user clients such as ENEDIS and ENTREPOSE.

This warning mesh with high mechanical and elastic resistance, certified by APAVE, consists of:

- Parallel chains (lengthwise), the number of which varies according to the required protection width and the diameter of the buried structure.

- Minimum warning mesh width: 0.10 m with 2 chains.

- Parallel wefts (widthwise), linked to the chains, ensuring the resistance of the whole.

Installing the warning mesh

The warning mesh is placed at the bottom of the trench, 0.30 m from the top generatrix of the protected structure and 0.50 m below natural ground level. Installation is made easier by mechanical unrolling using lifting equipment, or by manual unrolling, including on curves and intersections. Standard roll lengths are 100 m, but custom dimensions can be manufactured to suit your needs.

OTEXIO also offers warning devices for marking buried networks, in addition to its protection solutions. Designed with highly resistant and highly visible plastic mesh, they indicate the presence of underground infrastructure during excavation work or subsequent operations nearby. When the mesh is lifted, it tightens and catches on the bucket, immediately alerting the operator to the danger. These devices offer high mechanical resistance, good colour stability and highly visible marking.

Available in several colours and sizes, OTEXIO warning devices comply with the colour codes defined by NF 113. With the exception of a few references, the entire range is certified NF EN 12613, guaranteeing compliance for buried network marking. They are particularly intended for large-section pipes and cables, especially for gas and electricity transport.

Installing the warning device

The warning device must be installed in the trench, 20 to 30 cm above the structure to be protected. It therefore provides a complementary solution to high-resistance warning mesh, helping to implement clear, visible and standardised marking of buried networks.

Frequently asked questions

Is it mandatory to install a warning device?

In most cases, yes. Regulations (particularly NF standards) require a warning device to be installed to indicate the presence of buried networks (electricity, gas, water, telecoms, etc.).

What is the difference between warning mesh and a warning device?

Warning mesh provides mechanical protection against impacts / machinery tear-out.

The warning device serves as visual marking and prevention during works, and also indicates what the pipelines contain thanks to its colour.

Which warning device colour should I choose?

Device colours are standardised:

Red: electricity

Yellow: gas

Blue: water

Green: telecoms

Orange: miscellaneous networks

At what depth should warning mesh be installed?

The warning mesh must be installed 0.30 m above the top generatrix of the buried structure and 0.50 m below ground level.

What are the dimensions of a roll of warning mesh?

A roll of warning mesh is between 50 and 100 m long and its width varies according to the width of the trench.

How is warning mesh installed?

Warning mesh can be installed simply by manual unrolling, or using machinery.
